DESCRIPTION:<p>Lubbock County Sheriff’s Officials will give a presentation about their mental health program during the Smith County Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee meeting in Tyler on Thursday.</p><p>Criminal Justice Coordinator Gary Pinkerton has invited the Lubbock County Sheriff Kelly Rowe and his administrative staff to talk about the plan they developed to tackle the mental health issues faced in their county.</p><p>“Law enforcement and jails are faced with people suffering from mental health disorders all across Texas,” Pinkerton said. “In February, Lubbock County was named the first ‘Stepping Up Innovator County’ in Texas. Because of efforts toward addressing mental health in jails, Lubbock County also received the Justice in Mental Health Collaboration Program Grant.”</p><p>The Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, November 14, in the Commissioners Courtroom, first floor of the Annex Building, 200 E. Ferguson St. in Tyler. The meeting is open to the public.</p>
