Born to East Texas natives, Dan of Grapeland and Sharon of Crockett, Herod grew up with a passion for East Texas, riding cutting horses and motorcycles, learning to ride before he could walk. Though his upbringing he gained a deep appreciation of family, friendships and that giving back to the community you live in is important.
Scott attended Clarkston Elementary within Tyler ISD before settling in at Chapel Hill, graduating from high school in 1996. He continued his education at Texas A&M University, where he earned a BBA in Management in 2000. Following graduation, Scott worked in outside sales for an international security firm, covering San Antonio and the entire South Texas Valley. In 2002, he was recruited and hired by Bank of America, where he worked his way from Banking Center Manager to Consumer Market Executive, and then to Sr. Vice President, where he directed and provided oversight for sales and operations of all the rural banking centers in Texas and Arizona, as well as all banking centers in New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas and Missouri.
He left Bank of America in 2012 to become co-owner of Athlete Performance Enhancement Center, known to many simply as APEC, in Tyler before selling his stake in 2014 to open and operate Cut Beef, where he remains active in the business and operating their family ranch.
Scott has been married to his wife, Misty, since 2001, beginning his professional career as Misty began medical school, an internship and ultimately a residency to become an obstetrician/gynecologist. Dr. Herod has been practicing medicine at Christus Trinity Mother Francis since 2009.
Scott and Misty are the proud parents of teenage boy/girl twins and have a younger daughter. They enjoy working on their ranch, gardening and landscaping, grilling, dining at local restaurants, being active in the community and supporting their children at their school activities and sports.
